Carlsbad, California, November 14, 2024 – GigaIO, SourceCode, and EdgeRunner AI today announced a new solution that brings agentic GenAI and supercomputer-class performance to edge applications running on devices outside of a datacenter. The solution is the result of a co-design engineering effort between GigaIO, an award-winning provider of open workload-defined infrastructure for AI and accelerated computing, and SourceCode, a pioneer of hardware co-design from device to datacenter, along with EdgeRunner AI, a leading provider of air-gapped, domain-specific Generative AI.
The partnership brings EdgeRunner’s personalized Generative AI software assistant, EdgeRunner Athena, to users of Gryf, the portable suitcase-sized supercomputer co-designed by GigaIO and SourceCode. The solution fills an industry gap for supercomputer-class AI at the edge that requires air-gapped deployments and enhanced data privacy, security, and performance.
Gryf is the first ever suitcase-sized AI supercomputer co-designed for portability and scalability, and is airline cabin baggage-friendly and purpose-built for go-anywhere insights at the edge. It is the result of a unique technology collaboration between SourceCode and GigaIO that is designed to engineer complex customer solutions.

EdgeRunner Athena Brings Personalized GenAI to the Tactical Edge with Gryf

Gryf Takes Supercomputing Outside the Datacenter to Edge Environments
The portable supercomputer co-designed by GigaIO and SourceCode is manufactured by SourceCode in the US and available from both companies. It comes in a ruggedized suitcase form factor for rapid AI processing of time-sensitive data in the field, also referred to as a mobile fly-away kit.
A single Gryf can provide datacenter-class GPUs and more than a petabyte of information, enabling on-site operations without access to datacenter or cloud resources. Gryf also sets a new scaling standard, as up to five Gryfs can be combined into one massive system with the performance of a true field supercomputer. This scaling is made possible by GigaIO’s FabreX™ AI memory fabric, which can disaggregate and re-aggregate GPUs and other system components to enable optimal hardware configurations for each workload.
Gryf is Generally Available
The Gryf platform has achieved “General Availability” (GA) status and is shipping next month, initially to fill orders from various government entities.
